I know this is a controversial topic, but it seems I am hearing it every where right now. Maybe this is just due it being an election year and "gay rights" being one of the contested hot topics. I almost don't know where to start on this. Just recently California redefined marriage to allow it to include same sex couples, which other states have done so before, difference being in CA you do not have to be a resident. Which will lead to gay couples getting married there, then going back to fight their home state to recognize the so called marriage. I heard a news clip yesterday about Lutherans debating over a gay minister, I could have the details confused as I only heard it in passing. Let us first establish homosexuality is a sin.1 Corinthians 6:9-10 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. Leviticus 20:13 13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.
A lot of people like to get hung up there. It seems a lot of people fall into a "holier than thou" mentality over this sin. Sin is sin. Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, But those who deal truthfully are His delight. Just cause you may not have committed this sin, who among us has never told a lie? So don't be so quick to think you are better, it is just a different sin, but they are all just as serious. The only one given more weight than the others is blaspheming The Holy Spirit. Luke 12:10 10 “And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven. So we got that established. Now I want to dive into the concept of gay Christians. This simply can not be. See to be a Christian means you have repented and put your trust in Jesus Christ. You can't repent and still be living the same ole sin. That just isn't the Christian life. Sure Christians still sin, but as you grow, and learn to walk closer with God you fall away from sins. To say you are a gay Christian is the same as as claiming to be a Christian serial killer. The Bible is very clear about this particular sin, others you don't realize are a sin until you grow in your faith.
I want to be clear here, I am not siding with the type of people that go out with signs saying " God hates Fags". This is also wrong. The Bible teaches to be conformed unto the image of Jesus. God hates sin, not sinners. We can not forget we are all sinners before God. Romans 3:23 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. John 3:16 doesn't say God so loved the world, except homosexuals. So don't get on the high horse please.
Let me jump to another gear here. Every year we are being forced more and more to accept the gay lifestyle. Some people claim it is not a choice, but instead they are born gay. We are ALL born sinners. That is not a valid argument. If you apply the concept of extending an idea like I have discussed before where can you go with this? What will we be expected to accept next? Bestiality? Child molestation?Rape? What happens when a child molester petitions the courts to make his lifestyle legal cause he just can't help it" I was born this way, I've just always known I liked little children". Will we then accept this in mainstream culture? If you extend out any of man's ideas you run into problems. But you never will when you apply God's Word! It will never run into these situations. In closing I can only quote the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God... Isaiah 55:8-9 8 “ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
